So Your Child Is Interested In Motorcycles?

Has your child been begging you to ride a motorcycle or dirt bike? Before you panic, take a deep breath because there are plenty of motorcycle and dirt bike schools and summer camps all over Florida. By receiving instruction from seasoned professionals, your child will learn to safely and responsibly operate a motorcycle, and you’ll receive peace of mind knowing your child is prepared for the open roads.

How To Prepare Your Child For Riding a Motorcycle

Adventure Rider Training has been providing positive, low-stress motorcycle instruction to Central Florida residents for over ten years. ART utilizes both national (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) and state-recognized (Florida Rider Training Program) certifications to teach Basic and Experienced Rider courses.

If your son or daughter wants to learn to ride a more classic motorcycle, Harley Davidson offers beginner classes with certified Riding Academy Coaches. You arrive with the required protective gear and they provide the bike. The only other requirement is that your child must have a valid Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit. The coaches will teach your child how to safely accelerate, brake, turn, and control skids. After completing the course, students will receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course completion card, which may actually get you a discount on your motorcycle insurance.

If your child wants to spend the summer learning how to ride a dirt bike, these next two places might be for you! Iron Horse Country Ranch, located in Austin, Texas, offers weekly day camps for locals and over-night camps for those from all over the country. The cost includes bike rental, safety gear, snacks, shuttle transportation and coaches with years of experience.

Back over in Florida, the Volusia Off Highway Vehicle Learning Center also offers MSF certified one-day classes. Located on 90 acres of land, this places provides two huge areas for training and even has a picnic pavilion. The proper riding gear and a properly sized dirt bike is required to participate. If your child is under the age of 16, this class will provide them with the required Florida OHV Safety Certification Card.

As a parent, the thought of your child riding a motorcycle might make you freak, but there are so many resources out there for you to take advantage of! These are just a few of the many places that provide proper training, and most importantly, safety.
